a wee little tree frog

Look how sweet!

We released him into the yard the other day.  He’s the only one to make it so far.  I went out to the tree about 30 minutes after we put him there, just to check on him, but he was gone.  Kris said something probably already ate him.  And I thought I was supposed to be the pessimist…

she’s crafty

So, the boys really enjoy painting.  Lately, they’ve been “experimenting” with watercolors.  While quite beautiful, I find it hard to save all of their creations.  So we decided to cut up their latest pieces into strips, then we glued them onto blank notecards.  I think these turned out really nice – and I was happy to repurpose their artwork, as opposed to just tossing it (which I hate to do, but it’s really necessary when you have the sheer volume that they create on a daily basis)

“There either is or there is not a way that things are. The color of the day, the way it felt to be a child, the feel of salt water on your sunburnt legs. Sometimes the water is yellow, sometimes it is red, but the color of the water in memory depends on the day. I’m not going to tell this story the way that it happened, I’m going to tell it the way I remember it.”
